Carol J. Geffner, Ph.D. brings over two decades of executive management and consulting experience working with health care organizations including hospitals, nonprofit organizations, Fortune 500 businesses and start-up organizations. Dr. Geffner’s unique approach combines deep experiences as both an operating executive and a senior consultant resulting in practical and client focused solutions to complex business issues. At present, Carol is Chief Executive Officer of ArpegioHealth, LLC, a national health care management consulting firm and manages the Irvine, California office for the company. She is responsible for leading ArpegioHealth’s strategic consulting focus on transforming health systems including integrated delivery systems, health care technology companies, governmental agencies, insurance companies, nonprofit organizations, public policy institutions and multidisciplinary medical practices. Her focus in her consulting practice has been within the health care arena, leading transformation efforts around health information technology and new approaches to organizing health systems as well as providing executive direction to a medical revenue cycle management company and best in practice leadership training and coaching for senior and mid level management. A recent focus is in bridging the generational gap between “baby boomers” in management and millennial generation employees in both management and line positions.. JOAN GLADSTONE, APR Fellow PRSA, CEO, Gladstone International Joan Gladstone is president and CEO of Gladstone International, one of most respected crisis communications firms in Southern California. Joan is perhaps best known for handling media relations during the County of Orange bankruptcy in 1994. Since then, Joan has planned and managed crisis communications related to labor strikes, environmental issues, political protests, high profile litigation and property rights issues. In 2007, Joan was recognized for lifetime achievement and was inducted into the Public Relations Society of America’s College of Fellows. This honor has been bestowed on only 460 public relations practitioners and educators around the world over the past 20 years. In 1997, she has received the Orange County Business Journal’s prestigious Women in Business Award for her business achievements and community service. Joan is the immediate past chair of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Orange County District Council and was the first woman to hold this post. ULI, a research and education institute dedicated to responsible leadership in the use of land, is the nation’s most respected real estate organization. In addition to crisis and issues management, Joan specializes in media training and crisis communications workshops. Through her workshops and on-camera training sessions, she has taught more than 3,000 people how to prepare for encounters with the media. She frequently speaks on crisis communications planning and related topics. Joan fulfilled a goal to assist entrepreneurs in getting a successful start when she authored a book, “How to Start Your Own PR Firm,” with her husband Ed Gillow. The book was published by the Public Relations Society of America in 1998 and revised in 2006. She teaches public relations courses part-time at Chapman University in Orange, Calif. A native of Brooklyn, NY, Joan majored in public relations at Boston University’s College of Communication and graduated summa cum laude. She received her Accreditation (APR) from PRSA in 1983. |
